NEW YORK — With a price tag of more than $46,000, the St. James will be one of the most luxurious beds in the world in select Bloomingdale’s locations. The high-end department store is offering premium exclusivity to those with ample budgets via a partnership with British luxury bed brand Vispring.
With a view to grow its U.S. presence, the manufacturer of handcrafted luxury beds is introducing four models in Bloomingdale's locations at 59th Street, Roosevelt Field and White Plains, N.Y.; Chestnut Hill, Mass.; Medinah, Chicago and Short Hills, N.J. The exclusive collection's top model — the $46,000 St. James mattress, headboard and divan — will be showcased at a launch event at the retailer's 59th Street flagship store in New York on June 8.
Handcrafted by English artisans, the St. James mattress features three layers of hand-nested calico pocket springs, horsetail, Platinum Certified British fleece wool, organic cotton, cashmere, alpaca and Mulberry silk, and five rows of hand-sewn side-stitching. In addition to the mattresses, Vispring offers customizable divan and headboard sets with a variety of designs and fabrics that evoke classic or contemporary décor.
"Bloomingdale's is known for the superior way it caters to its customers' affluent lifestyles," said Magali Castillo, global marketing director of Vispring. "Every consumer category needs a Bentley, Rolex or Cartier to drive the standards of luxury, quality and craftsmanship. As we have seen in the sleep products industry, there is a growing market of consumers who want the finest materials, handiwork and exclusivity that comes with owning one of our sleep systems."
Through this partnership, shoppers will have exclusive access to the Vispring Luxury Bed Collection, which also features the Clarence, Windsor and Whitehall.
"This exclusive collection provides consumers the optimum sleep experience, achieving a level of quality, luxury and excellence that is beyond comparison," said Castillo.
