Kroger lowers prices on nearly 2,000 own-brand items across store

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Kroger implemented the largest one-year price investment in the company’s history across its Columbus division of stores, the company announced Wednesday. The multimillion-dollar investment is designed to provide customers with more bang for their grocery buck, including savings on high-quality, affordable Kroger-brand products.

“Kroger products provide our customers with affordable options they can’t get anywhere else,” stated Mike Murphy, Kroger Columbus Division VP merchandising. “Our customers know that they aren’t sacrificing quality when they purchase a Kroger product. Not only are they valuable options for customers, but many items, including soft drinks, salad dressings, bread and milk are also produced and manufactured right here in Ohio.”

Kroger provides customers thousands of own brand products under more than 25 corporate brands, including Kroger, Simple Truth and Private Selection. Nearly 2,000 of these items were selected for price cuts.

Kroger also intensified price reductions on hundreds of key national brand items in nearly every department, including grocery, natural foods, health and beauty care and general merchandise. Using customer insights, Kroger was able to focus on the most relevant items to shoppers.

Knowing that produce is a key determinant in where customers choose to shop, Kroger lowered the everyday retail on select items, including varieties of onions, avocadoes, berries and green beans.
