Pittsburgh Paints and Stains names Blackhearth 2018 Color of the Year

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pittsburgh Paints and Stains has tapped Blackhearth as the 2018 Color of the Year.

The brand, which is available exclusively at Menards stores, is billing Blackhearth as a statement-making paint color. Black with subtle hints of gray and purple, it evokes elegance, much in the way a little black dress does. Pittsburgh Paints and Stains 2018 color trends palette features rustic, vintage colors such as Peppered Pecan, Spicy Mustard and Chili Pepper — all of which pair nicely with Blackhearth. The palette also includes classic neutrals such as Moonlit Snow, Chalky Blue and Silver Dollar — which also pair nicely with the versatile black paint.

“We’re finding that consumers want to express their individuality through the experiences they have, while keeping their home and belongings minimalist and clean. Blackhearth perfectly reflects this mentality, as it provides a clean backdrop for a home and its décor,” said Misty Yeomans, color marketing manager, Pittsburgh Paints and Stains brand. “Black is a classic for a reason — it looks good on everyone, everything and everywhere. Pairing Blackhearth with un-fussy colors makes this trend not only accessible, but irreplaceable.”

The Pittsburgh Paints and Stains Paramount line offers advanced one-coat protection for colors such as Blackhearth. Last year, the Pittsburgh Paints and Stains brand launched a premium line of Paramount interior and exterior paints, as well as a Paramount exterior stain line. The brand also developed a virtual room painter tool so shoppers see how Blackheart or other colors will look on their own walls. Powered by proprietary technology, the online tool allows users to upload a photo of their room, try out a paint color as well as locate the closest Menards so they can make their purchases.
