Tulkoff removes PHOs, trans fats and gluten from Original Garlic Spread

BALTIMORE — Tulkoff Food Products, a third-generation, family-owned manufacturer of condiments, specialty sauces and ingredients, has removed partially hydrogenated oils, trans fats and gluten from all Tulkoff Original Garlic Spreads.

The Baltimore based manufacturer made the changes in response to FDA regulations and consumer demands.

“FDA regulations have been clear on the removal of PHO’s and trans fats for products like our Original Garlic Spread. Our removal of gluten is a response to increasing customer demands for products without wheat,” said Phil Tulkoff, president of Tulkoff Food Products. “We remain committed to our customers to be ahead of trends and regulations, this is the first step to evaluating the ingredients in all of our products to ensure that we continue to provide safe quality food options for our customers and their consumers.”

Tulkoff’s Original Garlic Spread is a blend of creamy margarine, chopped garlic, Parmesan cheese and herbs. Clearly visible on packaging are 0g trans-fat and gluten-free logos. Conveniently packaged in a re-sealable and recyclable tub and lid, the spread is available in 2/2lb, 6/2lb and 6/4lb pack sizes. Fresh never frozen, this product is ready to serve out of the container.

Headquartered in an SQF certified facility in Baltimore, with a second facility in Pittsburg, Calif., Tulkoff produces more than 400 unique items for retail, foodservice, private label, co-pack and industrial clients nationwide.

All Tulkoff’s products are available for private label and in a variety of pack sizes. Its current product line consists of assorted flavored mayonnaise products, crab cake base, assorted garlic options, horseradish, garlic spreads, butters and sauces, pesto, ginger and cocktail sauces.
