Volpak’s packaging solution delivers shelf appeal and differentiation

COVINGTON, Ky. — The Standcap Pouch, developed and patented by Volpak, is reportedly creating growth potential for manufacturers. It may be a difference-maker for private label products.

Available in the United States through R.A. Jones, the pouch improves shelf appeal because it stands out among traditional packaging. According to Volpak, the packaging solution has grown market share in mature markets and helped to penetrate new ones. The first company to capitalize on the pouch’s benefits was Daisy Brand for its sour cream. Consumer feedback has been positive, Volpak said in a statement.

The inverted pouch style incorporates a squeezable wedge-style shape, with a distinctive flip-top cap that the pouch sits on. Volpak added that it’s the first and only horizontal form-fill-seal packaging machine capable of forming and filling the pouch while placing and securing the flip-top cap all in one complete system.

R.A. Jones plans to launch the complete and patented pre-made pouch by the end of the year for converters, co-packers and brand owners. Because of the pouch’s flexibility, it is capable of filling a wide range of products, such as toppings, creams, jellies, cake decorating paste, honey, mayonnaise, ketchup, tomato paste, salad dressings, sauces, conditioner, shampoo, gel and soap.
